Health on a Plate

ROASTED OKRA

This is one of the most delicious way to enjoy your Okra. I love okra and I cook it in many different ways.

I see people fry okra out there in too much oil. Which is not good. Deep frying is not a healthy way of cooking any food. Oil when too much heated , creates transfat. A Very dangerous fat, that is harmful to your health. So roasting okra is an alternative to frying.

All you need to make this easy delicious okra is to season it with some spices, and olive oil. I am not talking about any spices  but the healthy ones. Here’s where many people go wrong too, by putting harmful spices wicth destroy the good food that they were trying to cook.

INGREDIENTS

300 grams of fresh okra
1tsp of cumin powder
1tsp of paprika
1tsp of coriander powder
1/3 of salt
1tbsp of olive oil.

PREPARATION

Wash and trim the okra by cutting away the stem ends and tips, just the very ends. Then cut the okra in half stripes, lengthwise.

In a mixing boil, add stripes of okra, paprika, cumin powder, coriander powder, olive oil and salt. Using your clean hands, mix everything well until all the okra is coated with spices.

Place in the baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 degrees stirring okra at least twice during the roasting time. You will know okra is ready when it’s lightly browned and tender.
