Simple and Delicious Cabbage

How do you cook your cabbage? I have noticed most people especially kids don’t enjoy cabbage. It maybe the way you cook it. Today I’m sharing my cabbage recipe, a very simple way to cook tasty cabbage yet healthy. If you have ever tasted my cabbage you know what I’m taking about.

Cabbage is such a nice and nutritious vegetable. It’s Among vegetables which  boost the immune system.
Don’t abuse it by overcooking. I have seen people cooking cabbage by boiling, then adding spices cooking until it turns sweet.
No no no, don’t cook your cabbage this way. It looses all the nutrients.
I’m going to share with you my secrets for a  delicious cabbage.
My first secret is lots of chopped onion. I mean why putting a small onion? When I’m cooking my vegetables I give them my all. Putting lots of onion, garlic and spring onions, also bell peppers, if you have them put on your cabbage.

The other secret is green onions, or spring onions, you can also use fresh coriander, parsley or celery. But the spring onions just adds such a nice flavour to the cabbage. And wait until you are about to remove cabbage from the stove then put your chopped green onions.
Now the other secret is grated carrot, it give a nice colour and adds a nice flavour too. Then the last touch is aromatic herbs and salt. Coriander, fennel, bay leaves, cumin these 3 I put on my cabbage, it makes it smell and taste delicious and on top of that, it adds nutritional values to my cabbage. Now the smell and the look of your cabbage alone will attract your family. And that’s the trick with health food, yes it should taste nice but it’s not always about taste.


There you have it, my secret of a delicious cabbage.
Please try it for your family and they are gonna enjoy. Hubby just cooked cabbage yesterday and it was smelling so nice, the kids and i enjoyed. With this tips surely your kids will enjoy the cabbage next time you cook it. Enjoy

 

Ingredients

1 small head of cabbage, depending on the size of your family.
2 tablespoons of olive oil or any vegetable oil
1 small carrot, grated
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 tsp of coriander powder
1 tsp of fennel seeds

1 tsp of cumin powder or seeds
Handful of spring onion
1/2 tsp of salt
1 bay leaf, optional

2 gloves of fresh garlic

Preparation

Chop the cabbage roughly.
Place a large pan on the stove. Keep the heat on medium high. Add oil ( do not heat oil) add onion and cabbage. Cook stirring frequently for 3 minutes. Now add the rest of the ingredients except spring onions and keep stirring
Cook for 1 or 2 more minutes.
Now stir in the spring onions and remove from the heat. Enjoy

How easy was that?

Remove cabbage from the heat before its tender.

Vegetables like cabbage should not be cooked for a long time. And should not be boil, it looses all their nutrients. So remember this when cooking any vegetable.
