Health on a Plate

WHOLE WHEAT BROWN BREAD

Enjoy this wholesome bread recipe. No oil added, no sugar added. But if you prefer for it to be a little sweet add some mashed bananas or dry raisins. You can also add dates. Every weekend there is a new homemade bread in my house. My family and I don’t take sugar because it’s not good for our health. I use ripe bananas to sweeten my bread if I want it to sweet, otherwise we enjoy our bread as it is without any sweet things inside.

It is very easy to make your own bread at home, so don’t panic you are gonna make this.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 2 cup of warm water.
  • 1 tsp of dry instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbsp rolled oats, to sprinkle on top
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds, to sprinkle on top.
  • 1 tbsp of plants-based milk, to brush the top, you can also use water.

PREPARATION

In a medium bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Mix together.

Add water to the dry ingredients. Mix, and knead until you have a sticky well combined dough.

Divide the dough into 2 loaves, and place into two loaf pans. To avoid bread from sticking brush the two pans with olive oil, or place two pieces of parchment paper inside, before transferring the dough.

Brush the dough with the milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds and oats.

Cover and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
While the dough is rising preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

After 30 or 45 minutes, when the dough has risen, bake in oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Depending on the oven.

Serve after 24 hours. Bread is more healthy when it’s served after 1 to 3 days, in this way all the yeast bacterias would have died.
